Potato
Moroccan Vegetable Tagine
This recipe uses chickpeas and potatoes instead of meat, and is a great alternative to my recipe for Moroccan Lamb Tagine. It’s not too hot and has a really deep and mellow spiced and slightly sweet flavour. Very tasty and ideal for preparing in advance.
Sausages with Celeriac and Peppercorn Mash
Comfort food comes in no better form than a well cooked sausage, or so it seems to me as I gaze out on a snow covered garden and watch the sheep snuggled in their woolly coats in the adjoining field. But what to add to the deep and succulent flavour of our butcher’s best sausages – how about celeriac that has been freshly pulled from our kitchen garden?
Chunky vegetable and chorizo soup
This soup is sure to warm you up and with all the vegetables will leave you feeling tip-top. Easy and quick to make and perfect if re-heated at a later date.
Hasselback potatoes
Hasselback potatoes are one of those dishes that look like they’ve taken a long time but in reality you could have done it with your eyes closed. The end result adds a bit of sparkle to the Christmas/dinner table. They look so tasty and the thyme, garlic, and avocado oil combination is melt in your mouth magic.
What do do with Xmas leftovers: The Revett Supper
The Revett Supper came about because my mum’s dad, EW Revett (known as Rip), founded a butcher’s shop in Wickham Market, Suffolk, and ran it for many years before handing it on to my uncle. With a family background like that, of course my mum knows what to do with cold cuts of meat…and so the Revett Supper was born.
Easy Peasy Vegetable Curry
It appears it’s Curry National Week and how conveniently so – Last week of the month, low on finances and bits and bobs of vegetables looking sorry for themselves in the fridge. Vegetable curry it is then for dinner!
Spiced salmon fishcakes
If you’ve ever made a meal, like bangers n mash, and been left with a load of mashed potato, here’s an idea for what you can do with it! It’s a simple Spiced Salmon Fishcakes recipe with ginger, spice and herbs that compliment the fish and pack in the flavour. It’s also very quick to make
Sausage and Mash with onion gravy
Why am I posting something which is so easy to make? Well, because I’d really like to remind people how good simple sausage and mash can be. That is, as long as it’s done right! You should use the best sausages you can get from your butcher, make an effort to make smooth mash and take a little time to sweeten up those onions! Follow these rules and you’ll have your self a tasty dinner which is cheap and easy to make.
Potato & Pea Curry
As Curry Week approaches, I thought I’d put up a recipe that a friend gave me. I really love this curry and the great thing about it is you can eat it as a vegetarian choice or add meat to it if you want. We’ve added chicken and bacon and it still tastes great!
Fish pie
One of the all time classic recipes, with a few minor improvements. Great comfort food when it’s cold and wet outside.
