Last Minute Christmas Present

The Devilled Egg

What to buy the person who has everything when you’re fresh out of ideas and really really don’t want to go out to the shops in the cold? Don’t panic, we’ve got the answer.

A few weeks ago, I met up with Barbora Stiess, the charming chef in charge of The Devilled Egg cooking academy in Bristol. She trained at the Leith School of Food and Wine in London and has worked under Michael Caines and certainly knows her stuff. Not only does she run excellent bespoke small class cookery courses where you’re guaranteed to get personal attention while cooking, but she offers video tutorials via her website thedevilledegg.com.

We’ve tried out her amazing year-long online cookery class and think it’s the most inspired cookery gift you could buy this Christmas. Every month, she hosts a new video online that’s exclusive to subscribers, and you can then put your skills to the test in your own kitchen when it suits you. She’s also available for Q&A sessions by email and does special offers through the year for subscribers too.

The year-long virtual course costs £35 and is a genius idea. We’re still working through the October and November classes (pan-friend mackerel and perfect profiteroles) but genuinely think that this is the best Christmas present idea for a cook ever. They’ll thank you every month when the next class turns up in their inbox, and they might even cook for you too!

Buy online at thedevilledegg.com. A year-long virtual cookery course costs £35.
