The Friday Wish List: Birthdays

We’re introducing a new Friday wish list feature to the website this week as a way of looking at what’s new and beautiful in the world of cookery. This week, since Matt and I both have birthdays coming up at the start of September, it’s our current birthday wish lists, combined…

1 . Season to Taste by Molly Birnbaum (£6.55)

season-to-taste
This book is an autobiographical tale of how a young chef lost her sense of smell and went on a journey to regain it. It sounds fascinating – it’s all about how smell informs your world, especially your cooking.

2. Stainless Steel blender by Cuisinart (£102.79)

Cuisinart CBT700U

Since I broke our blender and soup season is nearby apon us, it’s high time we bought a new one of these. This heavy duty Cuisinart version is just what we need.

3. LSA Ania bowl set (£38.50)

LSA Ania Bowls

Our dinner service that we bought while on holiday in Sri Lanka has served us really well. It’s getting old though, and the chips are taking over, so I’m always on the look for a replacement. I like the bright colours and modern shapes of these bowls.

Silver plated ice cream cone cups

Birthdays are the ideal excuse for ice cream, right? But since we’re now into our 30s, two silver plated ice cream cones makes it a much more sophisticated experience.

It’s only right to have breakfast in bed for your birthday. We love this lazy kit from Whisk Hampers – all you have to do is put the kettle on.

6. Kilner Le Parfait 1 litre jars (£7.49)

Kilner Le Parfait 1 litre jars

Our local park is overwhelmed with blackberries and if we only had some more of these, we could make some terrific jam. They look great filled with rice and pasta in the cupboards too.

7. Red and white Cornishware

Red Cornishware Mug

We love our Cornishware mugs, but have chipped a good few over the last year. We’d love a new set – and have just heard that TG Green has now launched its range in bright red, in addition to the classic blue. Their gift packaging is lovely, so they make great presents.
