Chocri designer chocolate

Chocri Website - Front Page

There’s something deliciously Willy Wonka about our new find: Chocri. The German company has just launched in the UK with the most fantastic idea ever – chocolate bars that you design yourself. So if you’ve ever thought that a Twix tasted great but not chocolatey enough, or that a Milkybar could be improved with a bit more crunch and a helping of sour cherries, here’s your chance to try it out. We’ve teamed up with Chocri to offer some vouchers to their site so you can create your own chocolate bars and put that sweet tooth to the test. And naturally, we had a go at making our own bars too…

To start with, we picked from milk, white and dark chocolate for the base, and then added the toppings we liked the best. All the classic toppings like toasted hazelnuts, Smarties and Chocolate drops are there, but if you wanted those, wouldn’t you’d just buy a bar at your local shop!? It’s the other toppings that make Chocri so interesting – things like rice crispies in a chocolate coating, goji berries,  sour cherries, bourbon vanilla, ginger and roasted almonds. Hit the exotic button and there’s toppings like candied rose petals, organic hemp leaves and even bacon! We plumped for sour cherries in milk chocolate, with candied rose petals and vanilla. Mmm, absolutely delicious – the sourness of the cherries with the sweet chocolate is a real winner.

We were pretty chuffed with our choice and found the process of choosing toppings great fun. It’s a shame that for such a gourmet product, the chocolate base isn’t super high end and the packaging is still very German in appearance and not as swanky as we’d hoped (apparently they’re working on improving it), but the idea is bang on. Typical chocolate bars cost £4 – £7, depending on how many toppings you choose. There’s a minimum order of 2 chocolate bars, with delivery costing £4.95, so it isn’t a cheap everyday treat, but, particularly as you can buy vouchers, it’s a great gift idea for a chocolate-loving pal.

  1. my chocolate bar would be called Paradise Bar and would be made of: Milk Chocolate with the following toppings: Pineapples, Banana Chips, Ginger, Pistachios and finished with a Marzipan Rose :)

  2. I’ve called my chocolate bar Flat White as a lovely accompaniment to a good coffee. It is made of Milk & White chocolate combination so as not to be too sickly, it contains: Cappuccino Chocolate Drops, Ground Coffee Beans, Rice Crispies, Bourbon Vanilla and is sprinkled with Real Gold Flakes.

  3. Dark Seduction:

Dark Chocolate base with Sour Cherries, Bourbon Vanilla, Pecan Nuts, Cappuccino Chocolate Drops, and a sprinkling of mini hearts. To be shared x

    Ingredients:
    Milk and White Chocolate with
    + Wasabi Peanuts
    + Nougat Pieces

  5. I’d call mine: Amuse Bouche Extra

Plain base, ginger pieces, orange pepper, pine nuts, topped with ground coffee beans and orange bits. Just the thing to enjoy with an espresso.

  7. Because I am middle-eastern, I would have to do something evocative and sensual to stay true to my roots… My chocolate would be called “Arabesque” and would contain all ingredients that capture the essence of Arabian Nights…

Rose Petals, Pistachio Nuts, Gold Leaf and a touch of Fleur de Sel enrobed in sinfully dark chocolate.

    Heaven.

  8. Ok, here we go.

Its got to be a mix of White and Milk chocolate to start,
    then
Apple, Pear and Plum pieces to tickle the taste buds,
    finally
a little sprinkle of Bourbon Vanilla as a background flavour and add interest
    to the presentation.

    Simples!

  9. Oh, and its called “Chocri’licious”!

  10. Milk chocolate base, laden with blueberries, sour cherries and toasted hazelnuts, to finish add a little bourbon vanilla and a pinch of Fleur de Sel (Sea Salt) mmmmmm..

    I’d call it Berry Nice

  11. Mine would be called Quick Pick Me Up.

I’ve chosen a milk chocolate base and topped this with hazelnut brittle to add a little crunch. I’ve then gone for caramel chocolate drops to give a touch of creaminess. Then comes the pick me up of cappucino chocolate drops and ground coffee beans.

So it should be a sort of hazelnut and caramel coffee mmmmmmm

    following as @dmbaxt on twitter.

  12. Mine would be made up of
Dark chocolate, with slivers of sour cherries, coconut
and hazlenut slices layered onto and into the top layer.
I’d call it Darkcoconut, one word only
