There’s nothing more rewarding than spending time growing your own food. The pleasure watching the little seedlings sprout into plants, tending to all their needs, then finally harvesting and making a delicious meal, cannot be beaten. It’ll taste all the better too.
If you think you don’t have enough room to grow your own food at home, then you obviously haven’t seen the new website launched by Cafe Direct! They’re on a campaign to make all your fingers green, and are giving away a free pack of seeds to get you started.
We’re not just talking about using pots and planters here either. Donated items from celebrity’s prove that you can grow your seeds in just about anything, from Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall’s mixing bowl, to Stell McCartney’s handbag. You’re encouraged to do the same as well, with a top prize for the most immaginative micro allotment created.
The person with the winning micro allotment will spend the morning in the prestigious two Michelin Star Kitchen at the Gidleigh Park Hotel, and also enjoy a lunch for two incorporating some of the winning ingredients.
